What's with the xf points? |
| There are two type of XF points available at Expertsforge : One is the Question points ie., When you become a member you receive 2000 xf points to ask questions. When you ask a question, the xf points are removed from your Available xf points total. Once you've accepted a comment as an answer, the xf points are transferred to the Expert whose comment you have selected as the answer; if your question is deleted, they are returned to your Available total. You will get xf points of 50 when you post a tutorial. Only with xf points you can ask questions. The other is the points that you get when your comment is accepted as the answer by the author. This points will be added up to your Question points and Your Expert points. Expert points will not be deducted from your account. It will remain to show your rank. |
What good are the xf points? |
| The best reason reason is that you'll see how you stack up against other Experts. Yes, some of them might have many more xf points than you, but Expertsforge is considering showing monthly and yearly totals, so you'll be able to see your name moving up a list, even if you haven't been an Expert for that long. The more you answer, the closer you'll be to joining the Top Rankers. |
How do I get more xf points? |
| Post more tutorials and you will obtain more xf points. Frequently Expertsforge conducts surveys and other events which when participated, you will be awarded with the appropriate xf points. |

If it's that important to you, post your request in Community Support, and one of the site administrators will help you. | ||||

How do I ask a question? |
| If a Member has directed you here, then you already know how to comment in a question. Asking a question isn't much different; first, you find the right Topic Area. Then, in the top right hand side of the Expertsforge window you can find a box titled as Options inside which you'll see a link that says Ask A Question. Click the link, and you'll get a page that allows you to ask your question by posting the title, question text and assignment of question xf points. | ||||
How many xf points should a question be worth? |
| A question is worth whatever it's worth to you.
You should remember that you're offering the xf points in order to
get a solution to your problem; they're not a reward that you think
about after the fact. The maximum number of xf points for any question
is 500 and in the technical areas, the minimum is 20; questions
in the Community
Support and its subtopics are free. If you do not have
sufficient xf points, you can get some xf points by adding Tutorial
In order to give you some guideline, Expertsforge has provided you with radio button choices at the bottom of the Ask A Question page, along with a choice in which you can set your own value. In general, the more xf points you assign to a question, the faster it will get attention from the Experts, but it's also a fact that a lot of Experts answer questions they see as challenging and don't pay attention to the assigned xf points. |
How long should I wait for a response? |
That depends on how quickly you need the answer.
In the busier topic areas, waiting for more than a few days will
cause your question to drop onto the second or third page of open
questions, which will make it unlikely that you'll ever get an answer.
If you haven't gotten any responses by then, you should consider:
In some of the less active topic areas, you can leave it open for a week or two, and it will still be on the first page of open questions. In the busier topic areas, you shouldn't ask a question on a Friday night, since it could be Monday morning before anyone looks at the topic area; it might be worth waiting until Sunday evening before asking. |
How do I answer a question? |
| To participate in answering a question is simple. Add your comments to the question by logging into Expertsforge.com and go to the question which you want to answer, below the question you can find the text area to post the answer, and the questioner will determine which comment best resolves his or her problem. The longer answer is that Experts can only comment in questions, and that the person asking the question determines which comment best resolves his or her problem. | ||||
Why should I answer questions? |
| The main reason is you can help other people solve problems. The practical reason is that if you answer enough questions to earn more xf points. With xf points ONLY you can ask questions. Also with more xf points you qualify as an Expert and you are eligible for getting Certificates and Gifts. | ||||
How do I close a question? |
Generally, there are four ways:
Before requesting a deletion or refund, make sure you have responded to all the expert comments. If you have found the answer yourself, please provide a detailed solution in the question. |
I put my question in the wrong topic area. Now what? |
| Leave a request in the Community Support. The Moderators will move it for you. | ||||
I accepted the wrong answer. Now what? |
| Leave a zero-point question in Community Support explaining what happened. The Moderators will "unaccept" your selection and re-open the question. | ||||
