The following tutorial shows how to uninstall MSN Messenger from Windows XP
MSN Messenger now comes preinstalled with Windows XP Home and Professional, and anyone who has tried to get rid of this program will know that it does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs OR Add/Remove Windows Components. This problem, of course, can be fixed.
To add this program to your Add/Remove Windows Components list, follow these steps:
1.) Open C:\WINDOWS\INF\SYSOC.INF in Notepad or your favorite text editor. 2.) Locate the [Components] section. 3.) Change the following line:
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
should be
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7
4.) Windows Messenger will now be listed as a program to remove from Add/Remove Windows Components.
