What's with the xf gold? |
| |
| There are two type of XF Gold available at Expertsforge
: One is the Question Gold ie., When you become a member you receive
2000 xf gold to ask questions. When you ask a question, the xf
gold are removed from your Available xf gold total. Once you've
accepted a comment as an answer, the xf gold are transferred to
the Expert whose comment you have selected as the answer; if your
question is deleted, they are returned to your Available total.
You will get xf Gold of 50 when you post a tutorial. Only with
xf Gold you can ask questions.
The other is the Gold that you get when your comment is accepted
as the answer by the author. This Gold will be added up to your
Question Gold and Your Expert Gold. Expert Gold will not be deducted
from your account. It will remain to show your rank. |
| top |
What good are the xf gold? |
| |
| The best reason reason is that you'll see how
you stack up against other Experts. Yes, some of them might have
many more xf gold than you, but Expertsforge is considering showing
monthly and yearly totals, so you'll be able to see your name
moving up a list, even if you haven't been an Expert for that
long. The more you answer, the closer you'll be to joining the
Top Rankers. |
| top |
How do I get more xf gold? |
| |
| Post more tutorials and you will obtain more
xf Gold. Frequently Expertsforge conducts surveys and other events
which when participated, you will be awarded with the appropriate
xf Gold. |
| top |
How can I change my member name? |
| |
| You can't, except by having your existing account
removed, since you can only have one account. You'll need a different
email address, and you'll lose all of your accumulated xf gold and
history. If it's that important to you, post your request in Community
Support, and one of the site administrators will help
you. |
| top |
How can I change my email address? |
| |
| The short answer is to visit your Member Profile
at 'My Expertsforge' , and then Edit your email. You'll have to
reverify your email address, however, just like you did when you
registered. |
| top |

| |
| To change your password, simply go to My Expertsforge , you will find the change password form in the right side of the page. Just fill in your "Current Password", "New Password"

| |
| The short answer is to visit your Member Profile

| top |

| |
| No. Because such a feature would overwhelm the mail
server. |
| top |
How do I turn off the notifications? |
| |
| For questions that you've asked, you can't; For tutorials, you can turn ON/OFF by editing the tutorial you posted and change the option. Once a reply is posted this option will not be avialable if a comment is posted. |
| top |

the Membership Rules
and will be dealt with severely. The only exception: if you've paid
for the accounts. |

| 'Question' Help! |
How do I ask a question? |
| |
| If a Member has directed you here, then you already
know how to comment in a question. Asking a question isn't much
different; first, you find the right Topic Area. Then, in the top
right hand side of the Expertsforge window you can find a box titled
as Options inside which you'll see a link that
says Ask A Question. Click the link, and you'll get a page that
allows you to ask your question by posting the title, question text
and assignment of question xf gold. |
| top |
How many xf gold should a question be worth? |
| |
| A question is worth whatever it's worth to you.
You should remember that you're offering the xf gold in order to
get a solution to your problem; they're not a reward that you think
about after the fact. The maximum number of xf gold for any question
is 500 and in the technical areas, the minimum is 20; questions
in the Community
Support and its subtopics are free. If you do not have
sufficient xf gold, you can get some xf gold by adding Tutorial
In order to give you some guideline, Expertsforge has provided
you with radio button choices at the bottom of the Ask A Question
page, along with a choice in which you can set your own value.
In general, the more xf gold you assign to a question, the faster
it will get attention from the Experts, but it's also a fact that
a lot of Experts answer questions they see as challenging and
don't pay attention to the assigned xf gold. |
| top |
How long should I wait for a response? |
| |
That depends on how quickly you need the answer.
In the busier topic areas, waiting for more than a few days will
cause your question to drop onto the second or third page of open
questions, which will make it unlikely that you'll ever get an answer.
If you haven't gotten any responses by then, you should consider:
- Posting a minimum xf gold question with a link to the your original question
- Asking the Moderators to delete the question so you can post
it again
In some of the less active topic areas, you can leave it open
for a week or two, and it will still be on the first page of open
questions. In the busier topic areas, you shouldn't ask a question
on a Friday night, since it could be Monday morning before anyone
looks at the topic area; it might be worth waiting until Sunday
evening before asking. |
| top |
How do I answer a question? |
| |
| To participate in answering a question is simple.
Add your comments to the question by logging into Expertsforge.com and go to the question which you want to answer, below the question you can find the text area to post the answer, and the questioner will determine
which comment best resolves his or her problem. The longer answer
is that Experts can only comment in questions, and that the person
asking the question determines which comment best resolves his or
her problem. |
| top |
Why should I answer questions? |
| |
| The main reason is you can help other people solve
problems. The practical reason is that if you answer enough questions
to earn more xf Gold. With xf Gold ONLY you can ask questions. Also
with more xf Gold you qualify as an Expert and you are eligible
for getting Certificates and Gifts. |
| top |
How do I close a question? |
| |
Generally, there are four ways:
- Select a comment (or comments) as the answer
- If there are no expert comments, you have the option to delete
your own question by clicking the Delete Question link at the
bottom of the page
- Leave a request in the Community Support for a refund to close
the question
- Leave a request in the Community Support to delete the question
Before requesting a deletion or refund, make sure you have
responded to all the expert comments. If you have found the answer
yourself, please provide a detailed solution in the question. |
| top |
I put my question in the wrong topic area. Now what? |
| |
| Leave a request in the Community
Support. The Moderators will move it for you. |
| top |
